I spent Vanderbilt’s Fall Break in Northern Colorado with my mom and aunt- we had a lovely weekend!

First glimpse of the Rockies from the Denver International Airport!

Since we were all coming from different places (me from Nashville, my mom from South Dakota, and my aunt from Southern California), the airport was our meeting place. I encountered a mechanical delay in Nashville, which meant I missed my connection in Dallas and had to be rebooked for later that day. Auntie Monica arrived first and snagged the rental car. Once I arrived, we had a little time to kill before Mom got in,Β  so we went to see the Red Rock Amphitheatre. AMAZING!

We ate a light lunch here at the cafe, and then headed back to the airport to pick Mom up. The Denver airport has an interesting looping pickup system where if you don’t want to park, you have to go out and loop around the airport again! It took us a few times to coordinate this right, but we eventually got her picked up πŸ™‚ We drove the hour north to our Airbnb in Loveland, and got settled in with groceries and unpacking.

Friday morning was slow since we were all recovering from long travel days and time changes. Mid-morning we started out for the day into Downtown Loveland to a cute coffee shop. From there we ate lunch on the road, driving through Longmont to Boulder, Colorado. We walked around the Pearl Street Market downtown, and had some delicious tacos before driving back to Loveland for the night.

Saturday morning we got ourselves up a little earlier to head north to Windsor and Fort Collins, Colorado. It was crazy busy in Fort Collins for Saturday College Football, and by the time we got back to the Airbnb, we decided to order in and watch a movie. Since we had to drive back to Denver for departures early the next morning, we packed up our suitcases and headed to bed.

Sunday was an early morning back to Denver, with our travel days going without any major hitches! We all made it back to our respective cities after a quick weekend getaway πŸ™‚ It was so fun to see Northern Colorado and spend time with Mom and Auntie Monica!
