WOW!! It seems absolutely unreal that this is my third year of teaching! This year I have the same preps (thank goodness!), and am still advising the school newspaper and yearbook. Does that sound like a lot? Trust me, it is. I like that the extra-curriculars offer me a little extra income to put towards loans, but man do they take up all my time!

I have more freshmen this year than juniors, which is (so far) not my favorite. I’m hoping that another couple weeks of routine and expectations turns my attitude around.

So far I am loving having every student having a computer! The kids’ Macbook Airs are really helpful and have already cut down on my paper collecting. They’ve also sort of automated some of my grading, which is phenomenal!

The day before school started Michelle and Katie and Leah stopped by with some beautiful garden flowers. Their brown eyed smiles made me so happy! 🙂

I helped plan the last of the inservice days, which was modeled after Edcamp. It was really fun, and I think it went over well with the district staff!

And of course, I’m so picture-happy that I definitely had Mom take a “first day of school” picture for me! 🙂

Basically the entire first 3 days of school were a bust because we had assemblies every day, and school pictures were taken during English classes. Last week (our first week with 5 full days) focused on setting up student accounts for MANY websites and orienting the students to appropriate use. I’m looking forward to actually teaching this week!!

Here’s to another year of adventure! 🙂
