These two days were dedicated to the travel out and back to Campus Misericordiae where the overnight vigil took place. The morning began with Mass back at Tauron Arena, but this time just the USA pilgrims were there. It felt much smaller than the last couple days when we had so many more people there. I diverted from the group to rest for a couple hours back at the hostel. I had a nice picnic dinner and chat with one other pilgrim who wasn’t feeling well like myself.

The trek out to Campus Misericordiae wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. We we able to take a tram most of the way out of town before the 3 mile walk began. It was a super hot morning, so I snagged a last minute umbrella upon entering to shade myself. Mass with Pope Francis started a little bit early (just before 10am), and we were able to listen to a translated version on a handheld radio! At the end of Mass, Pope Francis blessed all the pilgrims and our many items before announcing the next WYD location: Panama!

not fancy, but noticeably cooler under the umbrella

lots of big screens set up so those of us far away could still see

After everyone came back and showered, Ola took us on a short walk to our farewell dinner. The food was amazing! I had a creamy zucchini/potato soup, roasted chicken with potatoes, and a lime sorbet for dessert. Dinner was great, but the conversation was even better! This was our last night in Krakow before heading to Czestochowa and Warsaw tomorrow morning.
