Today was the only day of our trip that wasn’t overly jam-packed with stuff. I went with a large portion of the group to the city center to explore. What I thought would be a we-all-walk-to-the-center-and-go-our-separate-ways-to-meet-up-later became and all day, all group tour. While I don’t necessarily dislike this kind of touring, it is not very authentic because you can’t really go and see and experience things. Maybe my background of travel has made me a little too independent for my own good! 😉

First we visited St. Dominic’s to see a relic of Pier Giorgio Frassati. Next we stopped at St. Hyacinth before making our way to the city center. The city center was packed with pilgrims, which was fun 🙂 I went into St. Mary’s Basilica, did some shopping in the covered market, and took a selfie with Matt Maher! The whole group ended up taking a picture with Matt Maher too! We snagged lunch at a strange little place (mine was boiled potatoes, plain grilled chicken and cole slaw) before heading to another church where there is a relic of Mary Magdalene. We walked through an old city ramparts wall which was actually housing a traveling art gallery. After a little rest at the hostel, I went with another pilgrim to the main train station to Carrefour to get more gluten free food before calling it a night.
