Yesterday after a quick breakfast in Toledo, we hopped on a bus and left for Valencia (about a 4 hour bus trip). An interesting fact about Spain: all bus drivers must stop for 45 minutes per every 4 hours they drive, and they have to take a breathalyzer before the bus will start! Which meant our bus trip took about 5 hours, plus a short panoramic tour of the city. Surprisingly, truck/bus stops in Spain are very similar to those back in the United States!ย
My anxiety was mounting about meeting my host family, but I have a wonderful host mom! She is loud, fun, and loves to cook! She is very accommodating for my roommate and I since we’re both allergic to gluten. We spent some time talking and getting to know each other while she prepared our first authentic Valencian dinner. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of dinner, but we had a delicious tortilla espaรฑolaย which is an egg and potato omelet, along with salad, melon, and some gluten free bread!
Post-dinner I felt completely exhausted, but managed to upload some (not all pictures), and get settled into my room! Pictures of my new home to follow soon ๐ย
